아브라함의 역사 - 1. 아브라함의 출생

노아 892세, 셈 390세, 아버지 데라 70세
아브라함과 노아는 58년간 동시대 인물이며, 
아브라함이 출생할 때 노아로부터 아비 데라까지 10대 조상이 모두 생존
(노아, 셈, 아르박삿, 셀라, 에벨, 벨렉, 르우, 스룩, 나홀, 데라 /창 10:21-25, 11:10-26)

아브라함은 아담부터 약 2,000년 이후의 인물이며, 다시 아브라함부터 약 2,000년이 흐른 후에 예수 그리스도가 아브라함의 자손으로 탄생합니다(마 1:1). 인류의 기원이 되는 아담부터 예수 그리스도에 이르기까지 구속 역사의 분기점이 되는 인물이 아브라함인 것입니다.

아브라함은 오늘날 이라크의 수도 바그다드 남동쪽 비옥한 땅인 갈대아 우르에서 셈의 후손으로 주전 2166년에 태어났습니다. 이때는 노아를 통해 하나님의 심판이 있은 지 대략 292년 되는 해였고, 당시 갈대아 우르는 우르 왕조가 번영기를 맞이한 시대였습니다. 갈대아 우르는 메소포타미아 지역 중에서도 특별히 비옥한 땅으로, 문명이 발달하여 물질적으로 풍요롭던 곳이었습니다. 역사적 발굴에 의하면 갈대아 우르는 달이나 별 같은 자연물을 중심으로 한 우상 숭배가 만연한 도시였는데, 아브라함의 아비 데라도 그 영향을 받아 다른 신들을 섬기는 자였습니다(수 24:2-3, 14-15). 특히 아브라함 가족이 살던 우르와 하란은 월신(月神)인 ‘신(sin)’을 숭배하던 중심지로, 아브라함의 가족 가운데 데라, 사라, 밀가, 라반 등은 달 숭배를 연상시키는 이름들입니다.

화려한 물질 문명과 우상 숭배의 환경 속에 살던 아브라함은, 갈대아 우르에서 하나님의 부르심을 받아 하란으로 떠나 그 곳에서 머무르다가, 마침내 75세(주전 2091년)에 하란을 떠나 가나안 땅으로 이주하였습니다(창 12:1-4, 행 7:2-4).

HISTORY OF ABRAHAM

1. Birth of Abraham (Gen 11:26), 2166 BC

 Noah's age, 892; Shem's age 390; Terah's age, 70.

Abraham and Noah lived contemporaneously for 58 years.

Ten generations of patriarchs, from Noah to Terah, were alive at this birth: Noah, Shem, Arpachshad, Shelah, Eber, Peleg, Reu, Serug, Nahor, Terah (Gen 10:21-25; 11:10-26).

Abraham lived about 2,000 years after Adam, and Jesus Christ was born as a descendant of Abraham approximately 2,000 years after him (Matt 1:1). Thus, Abraham lived during the junction in the work of salvation between the first man, Adam, and Jesus Christ.

Abraham was born as a descendant of Shem in 2166 BC in the fertile land of Ur of Chaldeans located southeast of what is now Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. By this time, it had been 292 years since the judgment of the flood, so the land enjoyed a period of great prosperity. Since Ur was especially fertile, even among the lands in the Mesopotamian region, it had flourished into an advanced civilization and enjoyed a luxurious material culture. According to archeological discoveries, Ur was a city in which the worship of objects found in nature, such as the moon and the stars, was widespread. Even Terah, Abraham's father, was influenced by the practices of the land, and he, too, worshiped idols (Josh 24:2-3, 14-15). Ur and Haran, where Abraham lived, were central places for the worship of a moon-god named "Sin." Thus, some of the names found in Abraham's household, such as Terah, Sarah, Milcah, and Laban, are associated to moon-worship. When Abraham was called out from Ur of the Chaldeans, a place of splendid material civilization and idol-worship, he moved to Haran and dwelt there until he finally departed to the land of Canaan at the age of 75 (2091 BC) (Gen 12:1-4; Acts 7:2-4).
