이삭의 향년 180세, 야곱 120세, 요셉 30세
이삭은 모리아의 한 산에서 제물로 바쳐질 때, 살아 계신 하나님의 뜻에 순종함으로써 ‘순종의 본’이 되었습니다. 그 후 그는 평생 하나님의 구원 섭리를 이룩하다가 향년 180세로 열조에게 돌아갔습니다(창 35:28-29). 이삭보다 14년 먼저 태어났던 이스마엘은 이삭보다 57년 먼저 137세(주전 1943년)에 죽었습니다(창 25:17).
할아버지 이삭이 죽던 해에, 애굽에 있었던 요셉은 30세였습니다. 요셉은 감옥에 들어갔을 때 애굽 왕 바로의 두 관원장의 꿈을 해석하고(창 40:1-23), 후에 그것을 계기로 바로 왕의 꿈까지 해석하게 되어 총리로 등용이 되었습니다.
바로가 자기 꿈에 대한 요셉의 해석을 듣고 그를 총리로 임명하는 모든 과정은 순식간에 이루어졌습니다. 그 이유는, 그 짧은 과정 속에 바로 왕의 마음을 감동하여 사로잡은 하나님의 섭리가 있었기 때문입니다(시 105:20-22). 창세기 41:39에서 바로 왕은 “요셉에게 이르되 하나님이 이 모든 것을 네게 보이셨으니 너와 같이 명철하고 지혜 있는 자가 없도다”라고 하였습니다. 바로 왕은 요셉이 가지고 있는 명철과 지혜가 사람이 아닌 하나님으로부터 나온 사실을 확신했기 때문에, 요셉을 총리로 임명하는 일을 조금도 주저하지 않았던 것입니다.
야곱이 삼촌 라반의 집에서 떠나 올 때 요셉의 나이는 약 6세였으며, 요셉은 야곱과 함께 이삭이 살고 있는 헤브론에 갈 때까지 ‘숙곳’과 ‘세겜’에서 약 10년 동안 머물렀습니다.
그 후 요셉은 야곱과 함께 헤브론으로 돌아와 이삭을 만나고, 17세에 애굽으로 팔릴 때까지 ‘약 1년’ 동안 할아버지 이삭과 함께 살았습니다(창 35:27). 비록 짧은 기간이었지만 이삭을 요셉을 만난 이후에, 아브라함과 자신을 거쳐 야곱에게까지 전수된 하나님의 말씀을 집중적으로 어린 요셉에게 가르쳤을 것입니다. 요셉이 하나님의 꿈을 꾸고 큰 믿음의 사람이 되어, 하나님의 섭리를 깨닫게 된 배경에는 이삭의 가르침도 큰 영향을 미쳤을 것입니다.

When he obeyed God's command for his father to offer him on the mountain in Moriah, Isaac become the model of obedience. After this, he spent his whole life achieving God's plan for salvation until he died at the age of 180 and returned to his ancestors (Gen 35:28-29). Ishmael, who was 14 years older than Isaac, died 57 years before Isaac at the age of 137 in 1943 BC (Gen 25:7). Joseph was 30 years old and was in Egypt when his grandfather, Isaac, died.
While Joseph was in prison, he interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh's two officials (Gen 40:1-23). As a result of this incident, he was invited to interpret Pharaoh's dreams, which ultimately led to his ascension as second-in-command in Egypt.
Pharaoh's appointment of Joseph as second-in-command after hearing Joseph's interpretation of his dreams occurred immediately because God had worked to move Pharaoh's heart during this short period of time (Ps 105:20-22). In Genesis 41:39, Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since as you are." Pharaoh had a conviction that Joseph's wisdom and intelligence came from God, not man, and thus he did not hesitate to appoint Joseph as his second-in-command.
Joseph was about 6 years old when Jacob departed from Laban's house. He must have lived about ten years in Succoth and Shechem with Jacob before he came to Hebron where Isaac was living. Since Joseph was sold to Egypt when he was about 17 years old, he spent about one year with his grandfather, Isaac (Gen 35:27). During this short time, Isaac most likely concentrated on teaching young Joseph about the Word of God, which was originally given to Abraham, passed down to Isaac and then to Jacob. As a result, Joseph received dreams from God and became a man of great faith with a deep understanding of God's plan. Isaac's teachings in all likelihood greatly influenced Joseph.
